细胞重新编程技术（iPS，induced pluripotent stem cells）是干细胞研究领域的一项标志性成果，被Science编辑称为“几乎在一夜之间开启了一个生物学的新的领域，有希望成就医学上挽救生命的进展” 。这几年间iPS技术新成果层出不穷，虽然还不清楚iPSC与胚胎干细胞在临床上是否对等，但是iPSCs已经被用于疾病模式研究，以及药物研发。
自2007年日本科学家山中伸弥和美国科学家汤姆森同时发表iPS技术文章以来，iPS逐渐成为全球科学家们追逐研究的最热门课题之一。随着时间的推移，重编程技术也在不断发展，涌现出多种方法。对于刚入门的研究人员来说，恐怕有些无从下手。
与上述方法不同，CytoTune-iPS Reprogramming Kit采用的RNA病毒是由一间名为DNAVEC Corporation的日本公司开发的。这种载体不会整合到基因组，但也能高效完成重编程的任务，以最高1%的效率生成iPS细胞。
日本庆应义塾大学医学院的Keiichi Fukuda博士去年7月曾在著名的《Cell Stem Cell》杂志上发表文章，证明了CytoTune RNA载体的效果。他们从0.1毫升的血液中提取T细胞，再通过仙台病毒将4种特定基因导入T细胞中。该病毒即使感染了细胞，也只会停留在细胞质中，不会侵入细胞核，因此不会损伤细胞DNA，具有细胞癌变风险低的优点。研究人员也证明了这样产生的iPS细胞中不含仙台病毒，可以分化成各种体细胞。
Fukuda博士认为：“这种技术是我们实验室中产生iPSC的最成功方法。考虑到生成iPSC的高效性以及载体不整合到宿主基因组中，这种方法无疑是最强的iPSC诱导工具，它将对未来多个应用iPSC的领域产生深远影响。”
CytoTune-iPS Reprogramming Kit包含了四种CytoTune重编程载体，每个能表达一种转录因子（Oct3/4、Sox2、Klf4和c-Myc）。该试剂盒有两种规格，1包4管和3包共12管。每管中含有100 μl载体。
